The very well known online dating website, Match.com, is currently being sued by a Brooklyn man who claims that the website is nothing more than a big tease.

The Brooklyn man, Sean McGinn, has filled a $5 million federal suit against Match.com. Sean accuses the dating company of both fraud and deception by failing to alert its subscribers that some of their so called “matches” are not even active users of the site.

Sean, who is 37, said that many times he has poured his heart and soul into e-mails and sent them to his “matches.” However, he says he is nothing but crushed when these users don’t write back.

Sean McGinn’s attorney, Norah Hart said, it leaves users feeling both completely ignored and also rejected. For many users of the site, it could very well affect their romantic future, and thus, have a big psychological affect on them.

One story that the attorney talked about happened on May 30. The attorney said that subscriber “ajsky65″ sent out an e-mail to a former female subscriber called “traehi” and was also told that she was online.

The attorney went on to say that over the next few weeks, “traehi” would receive 33 e-mails and hundreds of these so called “winks” from other subscribers, but could not access them. The lawyer says that Match.com is misleading its paying subscribers by charging them for the ability to write emails to subscribers that cannot reply to their e-mails or even read them.

Norah Hart, who is hoping to make this suit into a class action, would not say if McGinn had found true love yet.
