The reports are now official, Mel Gibson and his girlfriend Oksana Grigoreiva are having a baby. Meanwhile, Gibson’s marriage of almost 28 years is crumbling down around him.
The announcement of the baby came from the 53-year-old actor himself on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” It was here that Gibson said that he was now expecting his eighth child. Although he already has seven, this will be his first child with Oksana. The two have been dating for about a year now.
Almost six weeks ago Gibson’s wife, Robyn, had finally revealed to the media that her marriage with the movie star was ended due to “irreconcilable differences.” When Gibson was asked about his wife, he simply said that she was a very wonderful woman and that they are still good friends.
Gibson went on to say that the marriage had actually ended about 3 years ago, well before Oksana came into his life. He also added that it was very unfortunate and said that the marriage did not work out, but went on to say that these things happen.
Gibson said that he put himself as the blame for the marriage ending, and he did not suggest any plans of marrying his girlfriend just yet. When asked if he was going to marry Oksana, he answered who would ever want to marry twice?
The couple finally made their first public appearance together on April 28th at the premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Right now, Oksana is signed to Gibson’s very own recording label, Icon.
