Technology and Recession Bring Changes in Dating Habits

Lately, as many daters have more than likely noticed, the dating world is a lot different than what it used to be. The days of hanging out at bars, clubs, and going on blind dates are over. Now people have turned to the internet to find their partners, and many even chosen to do their first few dates online.

Due to the recession, many online dating sites, like eHamory and Match.com, have posted great numbers in new members. This mostly has to do with the fact that it’s cheaper to spend a little on a monthly fee for one of these sites than it is to go out clubbing or bar hopping every weekend.

Not only this, but people nowadays are not as likely to just settle with what they can find locally. Thanks to technology, people can now search the web for the person of their dreams, and online dating sites help you to find that person quicker and easier.

When a dater walks into a club, he or she is not able to filter out all the people that have bad habits that they do not like. They are not able to cut out all the people who are smokers or do not want to have kids. No, these daters have to waste time talking to everyone to find people who even have a shot.

Online dating sites now give people a shot to meet people that they would have normally had no chance of meeting. For a price, these sites can be like a dating secretary for many people. Some online daters even admit that they are not sure how people use to date without these sites.

Thanks to the recession and advances in technology, online dating is not something that people look down on anymore. Online dating has become the new “in” thing.
