Ashley Madison Agency Condemned by Cardinal
For starters, why would the Catholic Church really care that much about the Ashley Madison Agency? Well, this no ordinary dating agency, as they are actually convincing married men and women to have an affair. This is probably the most extreme type of dating that an actually dating agency has have ever done, and the Massachusetts Catholic Conference is all over it.
The website actually calls theirself the #1 dating service in world that caters to married men and women who are looking to have a marital affair. What is really crazy is that their motto is ‘Life is Short, Have an Affair.’ With this philosophy, it is no surprise that media outlets are staying away from accepting this agency’s advertising dollars. However, with the recent shift in the economy, Ashley Madison marketers are now finding new opened doors to advertise.
Noel Biderman, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, said that during this economic time, behaviors are changing, and the stations that were turning up their noses to the agency before are now searching for advertising dollars to save their jobs.
However, Cardinal Sean O’Malley, the archbishop of Boston, along with the other 3 Catholic bishops of the state, have condemned the online dating service, calling on media outlets in Boston, Massachusetts to refuse their ads. O’Malley and the bishops of the state signed a letter, written by the Massachusetts Catholic Conference, issued last Friday, November 14th, that said the wrongful enterprise is a threat to the “oldest and most foundational of human institutions”, not to mention “the common good of all.”
Although he provides this service, Biderman says that he is hoping to be someone who keeps a healthy and monogamous relationship, however, he is a businessman as well. He also said that Ashley Madison Agency will continue pursuing opportunities so that their ads will hopefully be advertised in Boston.
