There used to be a time when people could turn on the TV without seeing some kind of “reality” show on. However, now that many places have fallen in love with these so called reality shows, people are hard pressed not to find at least one on at some point during the day.
Some of the most popular reality shows that started this trend were such hits like “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette.” Thus the land of reality TV dating was born. Dozens of spin off shows have now started based on the popularity of “The Bachelor”, like “A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila” and even “Rock of Love.”
One question that people have always wondered about these shows is, how many of these people actually fall in love? Mike Fleiss, who was the creator of “The Bachelor” said that he is always shocked to find out how skeptical so many people are. He goes on to say that if people follow the aftermath, they will see that these people really do form some kind of emotional connection. He says that these emotions that people see on the screen are anything but fake.
However, do the relationships last? Well, this is something that the record has to speak for itself. Ryan Sutter and Trista Rehn of the first season of “The Bachelorette” are still married and have two kids. Mary Delgado and Byron Velvick of the sixth cycle of “The Bachelor” are still together and have been for five years. However, the rest of the couples that have been involved in these shows have broken up.
Thus, these kinds of relationships can and do work out - sometimes. However, more often than not they end very quickly.
