Elle MacPherson, a 44-year old supermodel and mother of two, has a new man occupying her time. He is a fellow Aussie that she met in London, following him helping her move. The two have been photographed in London spending time together, which has drawn up some misinterpretation that the couple is an item.

So who is this mystery man? His name is Brian Burgess and he is 56 years old. Oh … Did we mention that he is a convicted cocaine smuggler?

Burgess was convicted of drug trafficking in 1996 in Australia, being sentenced to serve 4 years for trying to smuggle 2 kilos of cocaine in hollowed out boots from the United States. He had been living in Australia since he was 17 when he emigrated from the United Kingdom. Burgess left his wife and three kids behind when they deported him to England for his jail term. Jennifer, Burgess’s wife, said that during the time that he was deported, he had been a good dad. She said that he was always a good father, but he lost that job for a while.

Miss MacPherson has said that she is disappointed that their friendship has been misrepresented. She has stated that they are not seeing each other for anymore reason than as friends. Miss MacPherson also says that she knows about the past conduct of Mr. Burgess and expressed that he has and continues to take steps towards putting his life back together.

Miss MacPherson also feels that their relationship has been used for commercial sensationalism, and the photograph and creation of the innuendo have grossly interfered with her rights. She has an expectation of privacy with her personal life, and anymore invasion or misrepresentation of her privacy may likely be subject to legal proceedings.
