We all have to do it at some point. Some of us do it daily. Others once in a while. I spent a year sitting in traffic for up to 4 hours a day (ok that was a really bad day). So what’s a girl to do to pass the time and prevent road rage? Flirt of course!
Traffic flirting wasn’t something I was actively looking for. It found me.
The daily commute - sometimes it’s soul destroying…
I was on my way home one evening, minding my own business, getting onto the highway when this guy in a white car tried to cut me off. I was most upset! I was muttering under my breathe and glanced back in the rear view mirror to glare at the offender. I was met with a very nice looking guy smiling back at me. He showed me he was sorry and smiled some more, which he really didn’t need to. I am a sucker for a nice smile – I had forgiven him long time ago. I smiled back and carried on way.

Be nice to the guy who cuts you up - he may be hot
He was not leaving it there. He got into the lane next to me and smiled some more. It was actually all rather cheesy. Lots of silly smiling going on which eventually made me laugh. Eventually I lost him but was still smiling. It was fun. About an hour later when I had almost reached my turn off I hear hooting. I assume it’s for me; I tend to switch off when I drive and often do stupid things. Well it was for me but not because I was doing anything wrong but because Mr. Nice Smile had actually driven with me the whole way and he was waving good bye.
I didn’t stop smiling all evening and really wished there was a way to have gotten his number.

How far would you go to get their details? Drive into them??
A couple of months later after a few drinks at work I started on the long journey home. I was very tired, so put the radio up and was dancing away in my car. Not sure how long he had been trying but I eventually notice the guy in the car behind me trying to get my attention. I smile and wave and carry on. He manages to get in front of me and makes like he wants to call me! So I sign back that I don’t have a pen. Next minute he shows me he has a pen and paper. Then signals for me to pull over! So YES I pull over in peak hour traffic with cars crawling past us we pull over into the emergency lane. He runs out and takes my number. We spend the rest of the trip talking to each other. Unfortunately I was a more tired than I thought and I don’t really remember much of what we talked about or what his name was.
I didn’t answer my phone for weeks that followed if it was an unknown number. So I can’t be sure if he did ever call me back or not.
Just look at it - it reeks of Chav! But, what a car….
Then I had Mr. Traffic Stopper. He was possible the sexiest of all the men who have gotten my attention in the traffic. We made eye contact and the obligatory traffic smile. I was on my way to a meeting and was very distracted so thought nothing of it until I noticed he was next to me. Which would have been fine had his lane been moving as slow as mine, but it wasn’t, so he was holding the traffic up! I started laughing. He carried on doing this the rest of the hour long trip. I moved in front of him – I was starting to get concerned that the there may be incidents of road rage if he didn’t speed up. He moved to the other lane and was next to me again and again he was holding the traffic up.
When we came to the split in the road I was going right and he was going left. I did seriously contemplate phoning our local radio station and asking them to send a shout out to the hot boy in the black Ford!

Traffic flirting! It’s the way forward (or back, or side to side!)
My traffic flirting hasn’t landed me a date yet but its fun and a huge boost to my ego when a man stops traffic for me or risks his life running through traffic to get my number!

Traffic flirting can lead to great things!!
There is hope that it may lead to greater things. A friend of mine has a friend who met her husband in the traffic. They are happily married now with a baby.
So next time there is a nice looking guy in the car next to you smile he may be your future husband!
