Gift giving causes many people stress. We worry about the finances of gift giving. Responses of the recipients haunt our thoughts. Gifts can be a joy for the giver and the receiver. The key to a great gift lies in the heart of the giver. Offering something to another that is backed with love and caring will allow that gift to be received with the same kind of heart.
Gifts to Make Your Partner Smile
1. The thought really does count. Purchase a blank journal or notebook and write down one nice thing about your partner every day for a year. Give the journal to your partner for a special birthday, anniversary or other holiday.
2. Written words bring value to gifts. Send a note or card, through the mail, to your partner. Everyone likes to receive mail that is more than junk or bills.
3. Put more than lunch in the lunch box. Include tickets to a show your partner has wanted to see or a sporting event that is something your partner would enjoy. The event has to be about your partner and not about your tastes and wants.
4. Give your partner a sweet treat. Take a Zero candy bar and cover the Z with the letter H. Include a note that says, “I wanted you to know that you will always be my hero!”
5. Let love bloom. Give your partner one flower for each year you have been together, but choose a bloom that represents the month you met, the birth month of your partner or another unique bloom. Use the internet to search for meanings behind different flowers.
6. Do a chore. Offer to do something around the home that is normally the responsibility of your partner. Make that time all about relaxing and pampering (maybe even run a hot bath or set up snacks with a favorite movie or show).
7. Say it with a song. Find a copy of the album that has the song you listened to when you first danced, first fell in love or first connected. Include a note explaining the importance of the song from your point of view.
8. Do it because your partner asked. Put your shoes in the closet when you get home, wipe out the sink when you are done or any other little chore that has been requested. It is a small action that you can do that will show your partner in a big way just how much you care.
9.You have been framed, or you should be. Collect some pictures of you, children and other special family members and create an album or just framed photos that your partner can enjoy.
10. A little comfort goes a long ways. For partners that have a long commute, find a steering wheel cover, car seat massage cushion or other amenities that will make the trip a little easier. Partners that work at a computer can also benefit from a seat massage cushion.
The best gift comes from the heart. Put some time and effort into learning the wants and needs of your partner and you will discover that finding even small gifts that your partner will love will no longer be a challenge.
A gift from the heart – one that thinks of the recipient first and foremost – will not only be appreciated more, but it will reveal to your partner just how much you value the relationship and the person. Put some effort into your gifts and you will be able to find those small gifts that will mean a lot to your partner.
